About Me

Thanks for visiting!

I'M KEVIN FLOERKE

I am a professional photographer, storyteller, and guide.

Educated in archaeology and anthropology, I spent extensive time doing fieldwork across the Andes Mountains of South America. I spent years studying the Inca Road Network, contributing to research that would be included in the Smithsonian Institute's seminal exhibit on the subject. After partnering with National Geographic Explorer Peter Frost, I went on to study high altitude ceremonial sites. These remote mountainous locations where ancient people made pilgrimages to commune with high peaks, which they considered to be sentient beings. I continued this research for years while working as a traveling photographer, journalist, filmmaker, educator and trekking guide.

My work has taken me to six continents and on countless adventures, including documenting life along the border of primary contact deep in the Peruvian Amazon, photographing Santeria ceremonies in Cuba, spending time with Maasai communities in East Africa, and coordinating years of expeditions along the Inca Road. It also exposed me to the great wildernesses of the world, including the Australian Outback, the Great Barrier Reef, the glacial peaks of the Andes, the salt flats of Bolivia, the plains of Kenya and Tanzania, and countless others.

These experiences informed the way I look at the world, and how I create my art. A life of exploring and storytelling has given me a passion for sharing the diverse beauty of our world, its people, and creatures large and small. My work is about the kind of reverence for the world that drives people to scale rugged terrain to witness the moment the sun rises over a sacred mountaintop. It aims to capture the wonder of summiting distant mountains, sleeping under a sky full of stars, or the rush of wind as a condor soars overhead, because there is magic in these moments.  I see a world full of power and intention, and when you hang my art on your wall, I hope it brings some of that magic into your home.

If my work makes you dream of visiting faraway places, then I'm happy to take you there myself.  I offer select journeys to beautiful and fascinating destinations around the world including remote archaeological ruins and breathtaking wilderness and wildlife locations. I partner with the best brands in the travel business to provide comfortable, immersive, and enriching experiences for photographers and non-photographers alike.

Bookings for portrait, commercial and branding work are available in the Sedona, Northern Arizona and greater Phoenix Areas. I occasionally travel for projects that spark my interest. Send me an inquiry if you've got a story to tell.

Photo Prints come on Epson Premium Luster Fine Art Photo Paper and come either unframed, or mounted in a matted or unmatted custom frame of your choice. MetalPrints™ represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, your images will take on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily – just avoid direct sunlight.
